Frian Sunchaser is a 24-year-old student of both the sciences and the arts: she splits her time between pursuing a degree in biotechnology at the Hotel- og Restaurantskolen in Valby and an apprenticeship in body piercing just off of Strøget, and it’s in the latter where she comes to life. There is a popular perception that body modification isn’t a legitimate career that requires knowledge and qualification; Frian, however, uses her biotechnology background in her work as a piercer as she explains the proper way to sterilize scissors and piercing needles. The faces of her clients as she tells them how to care for their new piercings make it clear that her reputation as a piercer relies heavily on knowing the science behind her handiwork and the microbes that seek to destroy it.
