The Portland Grief House

Marketing & Communications Intern | July 2020 - present

During my four-month internship (now contract work) with this wonderful organization, I have developed and implemented a wide-reaching social media and email marketing campaign that broadcasts the Grief House's mission: to reshape the grieving process into an integrated and communal experience. Utilizing Canva and Adobe Suite to create compelling content, posted daily to our various social channels, I am able to effectively promote the nonprofit's new website, which I designed, built, and optimized in Wix.  I continue to maintain the site on a daily basis in order to field content submissions and connect visitors with the appropriate resources.

The successful launch of the nonprofit in October resulted in a 400% increase in followers on our social channels, and brought hundreds of new visitors to the site. Because of these results, my supervisors named me one of the Grief House’s founding members.

Moving forward, I hope to develop Grief House’s goals with regard to social justice by diversifying content, outreach, and connections with similar organizations.

Center for Cross-Cultural Learning

Intern | May 2019 - August 2019

While working under the communications consultant for the Center for Cross Cultural Learning in Rabat, Morocco, I improved the organization's social media strategy and digital archive. I photographed staff members, gift shop items, and buildings of the Center in order to improve the professionalism of their refurbished website. I also had the extraordinary opportunity to contribute to the production of a
short film about the cultivation of figs in Morocco, which is to be featured in the founders’ museum about the city of Ouazzane.

Phocus Photography

President | September 2016 - May 2020

After serving as the Social Chair from 2016-2017 and the Vice President from 2017-2018, I was elected to serve as the President of the Phocus Photography Club at Wellesley College. I was responsible for coordinating various events and workshops we held throughout the year for Wellesley students, as well as maintaining our network of amateur and part-time professional photographers for on- and off-campus photography jobs. I held weekly meetings with my executive board team to determine how to best serve the Wellesley community as an educational resource.

Public Citizen

Communications Intern | June 2018 - August 2018

During my summer with the communications department of the consumer advocacy think tank Public Citizen in 2018, I honed my communications skills by writing and copyediting press releases, media advisories, op-eds and blog posts, in addition to serving as the organization’s photographer and doing regular outreach to policymakers on the Hill and journalists alike in order to promote our initiatives and ask for support, which often required wrangling large spreadsheets of data and contact information. I also assisted the social media lead for the department in creating graphics, photographs, and evergreen tweets to publicize the organization’s campaigns. I was trained to maintain their website and blogs through Drupal and WordPress, respectively.

Before I left Public Citizen, I was able to spearhead my own project that bolstered the nonprofit's digital archive they could draw from by photographing nearly every federal building in D.C. I also had the opportunity to train the entire department in how to use their new Nikon digital camera, and produced a quick reference card for future use.
